Introduction
Victoria Secret Nourishing Body Wash is a toxic body care product.
Positives
While there is some scepticism, it appears that Victoria Secret does not test on animals. The Victoria Secret Pink line is marketed as natural, organic, and 100% vegan. It might not be cruel to animals however it is cruel for humans! As you will soon discover Victoria Secret Pink uses many known hazardous chemicals in their products.
Negatives
While Victoria Secret Pink have recently used the terms 'natural and organic' in their marketing material, NSA believes that this is simply a marketing stunt. The ingredient list shows no organic ingredients contained in this product, not even the Shea Butter which is claimed on the packaging to be an organic ingredient.
The Victoria Secret Pink Nourishing Body Wash is quite literally a chemical soup with many known or suspected carcinogenic ingredients, skin irritants and even contains ingredients that are considered eco-toxic.
Cancer Linkage
This product contains these highly toxic ingredients, AMMONIUM LAUYRL SULFATE, DISODIUM EDTA, BENZYL ALCOHOL, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, METHYLCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINANE and LINALOOL which have been linked to cancer in animal tests.
Penetration Enhancers
Also present are penetration enhancers: PROPYLENE GLYCOL, LAURYL LACTYL LACTATE and DISODIUM EDTA. These agents work to infiltrate the skin membrane - i.e. penetration enhancer - and in doing so may increase exposure to carcinogens.
High Risk Chemical Ingredients
Victoria Secret Pink Nourishing Body Wash contains chemicals that have been assessed as a high safety risk.
These chemicals are: AMMONIUM LAURYL SULFATE, FRAGRANCE, PANTHENOL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, DISODIUM EDTA, BENZIOC ACID, BENZYL ALCOHOL, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, METHYLCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINONE, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE, HYDROXYISOHEXYL 3-CYCLOHEXENE CARBOXALDEYHYDE, LINALOOL.
Fragrance
Of concern to sensitive people is the presence of - the vaguely termed - FRAGRANCE. This is an unspecified mixture of chemicals commonly used throughout the industry that have been linked to immune and nervous system toxicity and neurotoxicity.
Recommendation
My advice is this, always do your own research before buying an 'organic' product. Major skincare and cosmetic organisations are using the words 'natural' and 'organic' in their marketing deliberately to lure customers. The slick marketing by Victoria Secret Pink is about increasing their profits only, not about healthy skincare. Send Victoria Secret a message about their attempt to trick consumers - don't buy their products! If you use it now we strongly urge you to consider if it is working for your health.
Vote with your wallet and maybe Victoria Secret in time will learn not to put their customer's health at risk.
Certified Organic Alternative Shampoo
If you are someone who likes the peace of mind that your skin care products truly are natural and certified organic I would refer you to the top rating body wash.
